about
Tongue in cheek song about some nasty individuals I met in the music industry, although I have been lucky to meet and work with many incredible and wonderful people too :-)
MY REVIEWS
“With its dreamlike harp arpeggios and wispy, discordant synth lines “Nocturne” takes no prisoners right from the get-go. Although supposedly a demo, the production is fresher and more original than 95% of the mundane nonsense churned out by “professional” studios and labels these days. The orchestration is expert yet sparse, the percussion startling yet understated, the vocal performances beautifully poised… Suffice it to say this is possibly the most assured debut recording I’ve heard by a UK artist since “The Wizard” by Bat For Lashes”
(Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music)
“This is a superb piece of music- the production is amazing. I just had it on repeat in my headphones for about 20 mins”
(Si Hulbert, producer: One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Sugababes, Lemar and many others).
“The music of opiate fuelled dreams. Intricate, yet elegantly simple, the work of Double Thumb is inventive and utterly spellbinding… A taste of ‘Nocturne’ and I was hooked, lost in addiction”
(KK, composer and producer: Brian Eno, Bjork, Cat Stevens, KT Tunstall, Sting, Kylie, Britney, James Newton Howard, Medieval Baebes and many others)
"A true artist. What her writings inspire in me are are Celtic, Nordic, majestic granite and awesome deep blue water under dramatic skys and for a body of music to do that to someone is quite something"
(Steve Brown, producer: Elton John, George Michael, Freddie Mercury, The Cult, The Manic Street Preachers, The Pogues and many others)
"There’ll always be a space on FOTN for the weird and wonderful, and Doublethumb, a singer/songwriter/producer from London, is exactly that. Sharing parts of the same DNA with some of Tune-Yards’ boundary-pushing output, it may be hard to say ’Oonzeeluhzubazoomzum’, but listening to it is a constant joy"
(Tom Robinson and Fresh on the net team, BBC 6 Music)

LYRICS
They come and tell me I should up my make-up
I gotta look cool for this game
I gotta get my boobs and my nose done,
Lose a stone and get a tan
Cause if I wanna be a famous popstar
I gotta look the part, you know
But then you didn't even check my songs
I say f*** yourself I'm not your dog
You tell me if you wanna be a popstar
It's not about how good you are
It doesn't matter if you ain't got talent
Cause all that counts is who you f***
And if you wanna get a record contract
There is a compromise, you know
But then you didn't even check my songs
I say f*** yourself I'm not your dog

Great atmospheres and vibes...hypnotic. The production is amazing. For all lovers of ambient and chill-out...truly outstanding in its genre. Double THumb
Love this...blends hip-hop and rock/metal distorted guitars into a new genre called "street metal". I don't generally like hip-hop but I like this! Double THumb
